On January 24, 2012 representatives from the Central Alberta Self Advocates (C.A.S.A.) presented the City of Lacombe with a certificate of appreciation for its cooperation, support and contributions to the C.A.S.A. Pedestrian Safety Photo Montage Project.

"The City of Lacombe was very pleased to work in partnership with C.A.S.A.in identifying and correcting accessibility issues in our community for residents with mobility challenges," said Engineering Services Manager Matthew Goudy, who accepted the certificate on the City's behalf.

"We would like to thank the members of C.A.S.A. for including us in this process, and allowing for a collaborative approach in resolving these issues."

C.A.S.A. worked with its members and other groups within Lacombe, such as the Action Group, to create a catalogue of areas that have barriers that limit access to residents with mobility challenges, and presented it to the City for consideration.

Since 2011, the City has been working on a number of projects to remove identified barriers to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety. By eliminating these troublesome areas, the City of Lacombe helps all of its citizens can enjoy the natural beauty and walkability of our community.
